Ali al-Sharawi

The martyr Ali al-Sharawi, and who doesn’t know Ali? Gaza City lost more than just a familiar Palestinian person today; we lost Ali, the heart and soul of our beloved café, killed by an Israeli airstrike on his home. Ali wasn’t just a barista; he was the morning smile for many, silently witnessing the stories of our lives over cups of coffee prepared with love in the café.

Imagine, dear reader, the countless dreams Ali saw taking shape before him, the love stories that blossomed in corners of his café, and the numerous projects that arose amid the coffee cups he carefully brewed. Ali represented our daily joy in a place we sought refuge after tough working days in Gaza, welcoming us with his well-known smile.

Ali was martyred in an Israeli airstriks on his house in Gaza a few days ago in November 2023.
