Basil Raed Al-Lidawi

Martyr Basil Raed Al-Lidawi, 20 years old.

Basil was a cheerful and ambitious young man, and his name suited him well. He lived courageously, always rushing to support the affected, console the families of the martyrs, and embrace frightened children. In one of the incidents he narrated himself, he came across a small child who showed signs of fear and distress. Basil did not move from his place until he reassured the child. He refused to abandon the only child who had been let down by the world.

He did not leave the wounded at the Indonesian Hospital in the northern sector. Basil rejected the idea of displacement to the south and remained in the northern sector. He helped civilians and rushed to rescue them from under the rubble. He lost his dearest friends at the beginning of the war.

His family was martyred on October 23, and Basil was one of the survivors of that massacre. However, the longing in Basil’s heart for his mother, father, siblings, and dearest friends remained a deep wound in his heart.

On December 19, 2023, Basil was martyred by Israeli occupation gunfire, joining his family in paradise.
