Dr. Duaa Awad

She passed the board exam to specialize in psychiatry just a month before the war began. During the war, Dr. Duaa was at work in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, treating the wounded in the emergency department. She was kind-hearted and compassionate towards the injured, very calm, and exceptionally beautiful. Everyone who dealt with her loved her. She loved coffee and chocolate and offered them to everyone. She dreamt of becoming a psychiatrist, loved Gaza dearly, and enjoyed traveling to serene places.

Her martyr friend, Dr. Enas Youssef, mourned her, saying, ‘May God have mercy on our friend and colleague Duaa Awad, the owner of a kind heart and the beautiful impact she left on everyone who knew her. We used to wait for our shifts to end to sit together and continue our conversations on the chair you used to sit on, Duaa 💔.’

Dr. Duaa was martyred on October 26, 2023, while returning from work to visit her family. An Israeli airstrike hit her house, leaving her and her family buried under the rubble until they were rescued the following morning.
