Dr. Leena Abu Maileek and her mother, Yulia,

Leena was a 23-year-old girl who had graduated from the College of Pharmacy three months before the war. She was kind, loved life, and dreamed of having her own pharmacy. Leena got engaged to the man chosen by lawyer Mohammed Abu Maileek two months before the war. She dreamt of starting a happy married life with him, but the occupation killed her dream.

Her mother, Yulia, 48 years old and of Russian nationality, married Dr. Yousef Abu Maileek and embraced Islam. Yulia loved decorating her home and gardening, especially planting roses.

Leena and her mother were martyred in an Israeli bombing on the Abu Maileek family’s house on October 23, 2023, in a massacre that claimed the lives of a large number of their family members, most of whom were children.
