“I really wanted to go, hug her, see her, and cry in her arms, but she was killed before the ceasefire”

Engineer Ghada Abdel-Hay Abu Aita, 22 years old,

Ghada was in her final academic year at the Islamic University. Ghada was my companion in life, my support, my sister, and my entire family. She was my neighbor and lifelong friend from kindergarten through school, high school, and the university which we won’t finish because it was destroyed and Ghada was martyred.

We shared our meals, expenses, clothing laughter, tears, fears, work, achievements, and failures. We were planning our graduation party and what we would do after graduation, and we dreamed of traveling together to Egypt because she loved it so much and wanted to visit it

We loved going out a lot, exploring life, visiting various shops and places, and not depriving ourselves of anything. It’s challenging to comprehend that she is gone forever.

I used to send her news about truce during the war, and she swore if that happened, she would share sweets with people in the street. I really wanted to go, hug her, see her, and cry in her arms, but she was killed before the ceasefire

My life companion, Ghada,along with her mother Ratiba, and her brother, Emad, were martyred on 29 October 2023 by Israeli airstrike on their home.
