“Hassan Al-Qattawi” or as people called him, Abu Al-Muhtajin (Father of the Needy). People would ask Hassan, ‘Why do they call you the seller of Nablus knafeh for the poor?’ He would respond, ‘Because I feed both the rich and the poor, and I don’t care about money for those who can’t afford it when they buy my Nablus knafeh dish, which I sell for only one shekel.’ Hassan was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on his home in October 2023.
إِنَّا ِلِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we return.
