The martyr child Joanna Khalaf.
She was only 4 and a half years old, a beloved child by everyone, and had acceptance wherever she went. She loved fun, laughter, and playing, approaching life with a pure and beautiful heart.
Her spirit was loved by everyone she encountered, and wherever she went, she always sang, “Your children, O Palestine, hold your head up high… A martyr bidding farewell to another martyr, for the sake of the beloved Al-Aqsa.” And then she was martyred, sacrificing herself for Al-Aqsa!
On November 23, 2023, Joanna was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on the house where she had taken shelter, in the city of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, in what they call “safe zones,” along with her mother and aunt.
إِنَّا ِلِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we return.
