“Lujain was the soul of everywhere she went”

Lujain Al-Batniji, 16 years old.

Lujain was responsible for organizing the radio station at the gifted school and preparing segments for the end-of-year event known as the Open Day. She arranged and organized everything, even at the language institute. She was creative, sociable, loved photography, and taught her friends how to use her personal camera. She drew and shared her artwork on Instagram. She was a dreamer and ambitious, loved and beloved. Love preceded her wherever she went, and it testifies to her now. She was eager for new experiences and adventures. It was her ambition to become an architect, a dream that she took with her.

In the last conversation with one of her friends, Lujain expressed her sadness over the ending of a significant part of her life and how the feeling of emptiness overshadowed her sense of accomplishment.

Israel killed Lujain and destroyed the beautiful places she loved. The graduation hall in the Orthodox Institute was bombed, the gifted school was bombed, and Lujain, along with her dreams, was also bombed.

She was martyred on November 18, 2023, along with her family members, in an Israeli airstrike on their home, while her sister miraculously survived.

إِنَّا ِلِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we return.
