Moaz Rami Awad His uncle, journalist Mohammed Awad, wrote:
As for you, Moaz, I mourn you while smiling with utmost sincerity, without feeling any sense of loss, because you still message me, tease me, chase me, and penetrate the tranquility of my thoughts with your endless jokes. Your playful nature never ceases, and your words push me to run after you like children do. I, your uncle, see in my brother’s children the support, even though they are young. I read your message that you sent me on WhatsApp, telling me that you’re “tired” and that we had a date to enjoy a plate of Nablus knafeh, a favorite treat that was absent due to the war. We had set a date between us, one that you had determined before your departure by hours, as if you were telling me that you were going… Going without hesitation. I still mourn you, my spoiled nephew, and your patient grandmother. I pour my condolences upon your mother, who struggled for you, with you, and because of you. You were the embodiment of vitality, and forgive me for not being able to shield your face from the veil of death. I want to see you as I always do, lively and not lying still with closed eyes and furrowed brows. Death, my beloved, was heavy on your parents… What about you, my dear nephew, Moaz.
