Everyone in Gaza is now awaiting the decisive moment; everyone is living on the verge of death, as narrated by Omar (‘Living on the Verge of Death’).

Omar was the first martyr in the war, the poet and writer from Nuseirat camp. Omar was one of the most beautiful and pure-hearted individuals, a person pure in every sense of the word. Omar used to pray Fajr in the mosque, then engage in a morning run for miles to breathe in the morning breeze. He would return with breakfast for his parents, wife, and his three-year-old daughter Elena.

On the morning of October 7, 2023, Omar went out to pray Fajr as usual. However, Israeli missiles did not allow him to complete his innocent rituals or return with sweets for his little one. He bled in a remote, uninhabited area and quietly became a martyr, as tranquil as his serenity.
