Professor Mohammed Shubeir

The martyr, Professor Mohammed Shubeir.

For those unfamiliar with Professor Mohammed Shubeir, he was a doctor and professor of microbiology at the Islamic University of Gaza. He established the Medical Laboratory Sciences Department, served as the Dean of the Faculty of Science, and was the President of the Islamic University for 12 years. His presidency marked the university’s golden era, transitioning it from a small institution to one recognized regionally and internationally, increasing the number of colleges and specializations.

He played a role in inaugurating the Master’s program in Medical Analysis. He continued teaching and supervising Master’s theses until the age of seventy. Known for his good character, kindness, patience, humility, and love for knowledge, he remained well-informed even amidst his administrative duties at the university.

Professor Shubeir was also a distinguished researcher. Despite the challenging circumstances in Gaza, he published numerous scientific research papers.

Professor Shubeir was deeply concerned about the younger generation, striving with all his might to invest in them and protect their rights.

Professor Mohammed Eid Shubeir, his wife Rahab Mohammed Shubeir, his son’s wife (Malik) Najat Ayoub Al-Helu, and his grandson Mohammed Malik Shubeir were martyred in an Israeli occupation airstrike on their home on November 12, 2023.
