Samer Abu Daqqa

The journalist at Al Jazeera, the martyr Samer Abu Daka, his wife, and children reside in Belgium, where he holds permanent residency. Months ago, he traveled to Belgium to meet his family. Al Jazeera offered him the chance to transfer his work as a journalist from Gaza to Belgium, but he chose to return to Gaza and refused to move his life to Belgium. He intended to bring his wife and children back to Gaza before the war, but when the war began, he refused to leave for Belgium, where he held residency. He stayed in Gaza to document, through his camera lenses, the occupation’s crimes, eventually ascending as a martyr in the Gaza he loved.
