Yara Abdulhakim Lafi
Martyr DateDecember 23, 2023
Martyr Yara Abdulhakim Lafi.
She was the soul of the family, someone who loved life immensely. She never left anything untried. Her friends would say, “If you want to see the bright side of Gaza, work with Yara, and you’ll experience a strike.”
She always planned to travel abroad for further studies. However, when she graduated from school, the COVID-19 pandemic had spread, making travel difficult. She studied at Al-Azhar University, in her third year, taking extra courses to graduate quickly and pursue a master’s degree abroad, before the occupation surprised her with its criminal war.
On December 23, 2023, the occupation killed her, along with her dreams. Her father said, “Yara, my oldest and most beautiful child, was martyred by the Israeli occupation’s bullets before she could complete her studies with just one semester left in university. She was martyred while in pain, yet smiling.”
